How are insurance groups decided?

Insurance groups are determined by a group rating panel, made up of members of the Association of British Insurers and the Lloyds Market Association and supported by Thatcham Research.

 

The panel looks at factors like vehicle values, parts costs, repair times, overall performance, security and safety features for various specs of every vehicle model to assign them a number – which is then used by every company providing insurance for vans in the UK.
